Why Do a First Look?

There are so many amazing reasons to do a first look on your wedding day! But we'll get to that...lets start with what exactly a "First Look" is! 

What is a First Look? It is a great option for those having later ceremonies, or simply for those who love the idea of seeing one another before the ceremony! Its a little less traditional, but is an amazing way to share a few more private moments with your love! If you're choosing a first look on the big day, we work together to pick a romantic location for you and your love to see & take each other in! With us, all your photos would happen before the ceremony - including your couples portraits & bridal party photos! Its an amazing option, and we highly recommend it - so lets talk about why it could be an amazing option for you...

1. You're Having a Later Ceremony...

If your ceremony is happening later in the day (lets say past 3:30/4:00pm), and you're wanting your reception to start not too long after - a first look is perfect! Taking time ahead of the ceremony to celebrate with your bridal party & couples portraits is an absolutely perfect way to make the flow of the day effortless! When you have your photos ahead of the ceremony, we can enjoy a relaxing portrait session, and head into the ceremony!

2. Nerves!

They happen to everyone - but for some, it may cause stress! Who wants stress on their day? Often times the idea of seeing each other for the first time in front of your "nearest & dearest" can make you sweat...you were hoping for a little more of a quiet moment between the two of you, something where you can cry, sigh hold each other and cry some more - and really take each other in! If you're feeling the anxiety right now - we would highly recommend a first look for you!

3. You Are Excited to Get to Your Reception!

As you should be! If you are having a first look, with a later ceremony with the reception to follow very shortly after - doing your photos in advance is amazing! You won't worry about what activities your guests might do while you are having your photos taken, instead you can enjoy a few cocktails, some laughs and head right into dinner & partying!  

4. Weather.

To some...thats a dirty word! To us...its exciting! Feelings aside, you may have checked the weather almanac, or forecast and it has come to your attention that the weather may get a little ugly later in the day - and you don't want your photos done in the not so glamorous weather! This is where having your photos in advance of the weathers plans comes in handy! The worry about how your hair, make-up or anything else will hold up in the rain won't matter quite as much!

5. More Time for Photos.

You have put hours upon hours into planning your day, every detail! Your flowers, gown, dresses, reception...so lets make extra time to document it! You dreamt of floating in the middle of a pond for your photos, but without the additional time, its just not possible. A First Look allows you to build a photo itinerary to suit your needs and ideas! 

6. The Emotions Won't Go Away...

We have heard this several occasions. We know - you have an idea of exactly how the moment will unfold when you see each other for the first time in front of your guests. We promise - this moment does not change. In fact - for the most part, its one incredible moment stacked on another, its like double dipping! For our couples that have chosen "First Looks" for their days, they often cry a second time when they see each other at the end of the aisle. The emotion of knowing you're going to spend the rest of your life with the person you love most in the universe is HUGE. It is not an emotion that fizzles out like a firecracker. It keeps going - and twice in one day is an incredible emotional high!
