We just got back from Costa Rica where we had the absolute honour of photographing my sisters wedding…my BABY sisters wedding! To say we had an incredible time is an understatement. We spent a week hanging out as a HUGE family, all five of us kids, our spouses, parents, Taryn & Jeremy’s best friends, and his parents & sister - it was the BEST! We went on "Tropical Showers" (Taremy's version of Stags & Stagettes) a volcano tour, hidden beach tour (where our Dad, Dave, stepped on a sea urchin…and ended up in what I dubbed “Urchin-t Care 😂) on a sailboat with a freshly prepared dinner on the beach, played games on the patio of Villla Bueno Onda, had a BLAST celebrating Taryn and Jeremy, and FINALLY getting a bride and groom to JUMP IN A POOL at the end of the night! Of all the kids - she is the first to have a destination wedding - and while we had to leave our gorgeous little girl (Kitt) at home, it was definitely worth the trip!
Taryn read me her vows a few weeks before the wedding…and I was in tears, and then I cried again when I tried to tell Steve how amazing they were. Then I heard Jeremy’s at the ceremony…and tried not to cry. After all…I was trying to take the photos. These two…phew. LOVE! They had everyone in tears - INCLUDING the officiant! As her older sister, there is a certain amount of protectiveness I feel and yet I know she will make her own choices. I know I’m not alone (there are a few other kids!). But with Taryn, in her words “I’ll decide”. And after seeing, hearing and being part of their lives for a few years now - I think I can let go just a little now that she's hitched to the love of her life. Taryn and Jeremy balance each other out in a way that both of them need, and in a way that makes both of them better. In fact - I would say Jeremy even helps balance out our wild, crazy family dynamic…he is somewhat calm by comparison, and comes with a compassion, and unbiased, grounded view that we sometimes lack!
Jeremy - I speak on behalf of our entire family when I say “Welcome to our Family!! You’re now a Young-BLUNT!” WHOOT! And Taryn...I'm so freaking EXCITED for you, thank you for the inviting us to capture your spectacular tropic nuptials!
As they say in Costa Rica...
This wedding band was our late Grandma Bowman's...
There wasn't much Taryn's bestie, Sarah, wouldn't do for her...including crafting the perfect SPLASH!! The best part...we didn't know we were taking this image until we saw the back of the camera! Then we asked her do jump again!
